I've only been to LA and then San Fran for a day. LA has smog, but inside there's no smoking so that's cool. I was there for Film class, so I only have experience related to that. San Francisco is nice, but colder than you'd think since it's right on the bay. If you go, I recommend the Dungeoness Crab and the Clam Chowder.
